Best dirt bike trails in Bali
the routes worth riding

Bali has four riding zones worth picking. The Tabanan Jungle & Beach route threads rainforest single-track and rice-paddy tracks before finishing on a black-sand beach on the Indian Ocean — the most cinematic of the four and the best first ride for beginners. Kintamani Black Lava & Forest takes you across the open black-lava field at the foot of an active volcano, then into pine-forest single-track — a unique ride no other region in Asia offers. The Secret Forest is a fast-flowing hard-enduro single-trail through hidden west-coast forest plantations, built for experienced riders. Multi-Day Expeditions string all three zones together over 2–6 days for the complete Bali off-road experience. These are the routes we actually run; no invented trails.

1. Tabanan Jungle & Beach — the best first ride in Bali

What makes it special:You start in dense tropical rainforest — tight single-track, vegetation, logs and shallow river crossings — then break into open rice-paddy country before the route tips down to a black-sand volcanic beach on the Indian Ocean. It is the only dirt bike ride in Bali that ends on a beach, and it's the one people come back to describe first.

The rice-paddy section rides through the Jatiluwih subak landscape, part of Bali's UNESCO World Heritage site, except you're on a bike with no crowd and no fence.

Terrain: Rainforest single-track · river crossings · open rice-paddy tracks · black-sand beach (volcanic sand, Indian Ocean). ~40–50 km total.

Level: Beginner to expert. This is our recommended first ride in Bali — many riders do their first-ever off-road day here. The guide sets the pace and can switch to harder jungle lines as your ability grows. The half-day is the jungle and rice-paddy loop; the full day adds lunch, the coast run, and the beach finish. Dense jungle keeps it rideable all year; the wet season turns it into a real mud challenge.

Bikes: KLX 150/230 (beginner default), KTM 300/350 EXC, Yamaha YZ 250 FX, Ducati DesertX 450 — see the full fleet.

2. Kintamani Black Lava & Forest — ride an active volcano

What makes it special: Mt Batur is an active stratovolcano rising to 1,717 m. The black-lava field below it is from the 1963 eruption — flat, hard-packed volcanic rock with a thin layer of volcanic sand on top — and riding it wide open, with the volcano above you, is unlike anything else on a dirt bike. Kintamani sits inside the Batur UNESCO Global Geopark.

After the lava field, the route moves into pine-forest single-track planted on the volcanic slopes — sandy soil, tight turns, root sections; more technical and slower-paced than the open lava.

Terrain: Open black-lava field (fast, exposed) · pine-forest single-track (sandy, technical). ~30–55 km total.

Level: Beginner to expert. The open lava field is a gentle, confidence-building place to find your rhythm — no obstacles, no speed limit, wide open. The pine-forest single-track is more technical. Both levels share the same ride; the guide reads your ability and adapts. A half-day covers the lava field; the full day adds lunch and the pine-forest section.

Bikes: Full fleet available. See the fleet page for every model and its price on this route.

3. Secret Forest — fast hard-enduro for experienced riders

What makes it special:Hidden forest plantations on Bali's west coast that most visitors never find. The trail is fast, flowing single-track — not a slog, not a rock-garden — through dense tree cover, then out onto rice-paddy tracks and river crossings before the full day goes deeper into rocky, muddy technical jungle.

This is Bali off-road at its rawest. The route's character changes dramatically in the wet season — muddier, more grip-managed, more technical — which is exactly why experienced riders come back for it.

Terrain: Fast flowing forest single-trail · open rice-paddy tracks · river crossings · deep rocky/muddy jungle (full-day only).

Level:Advanced to hard-enduro. This is NOT a beginner route. The guide expects you to have real off-road riding behind you before you book. If you're not sure whether you qualify, message us on WhatsApp — we'll ask a few questions and tell you honestly. If you do qualify, the Secret Forest is the day experienced riders talk about longest.

Bikes: KTM 300 EXC, KTM 350 EXC-F, Yamaha YZ 250 FX, Ducati DesertX 450 — the performance tier. See all bikes.

4. Multi-Day Expedition — all three zones, 2–6 days

What makes it special: A multi-day expedition strings all three zones together — Tabanan jungle on Day 1, Kintamani volcano on Day 2, Secret Forest on Day 3 — letting you ride each zone at full pace and build into the harder terrain as the trip progresses. Accommodation, dinner and all meals are included every day (Putu-confirmed). The exact routing, day order and overnight location are shaped to your group on a WhatsApp call before you fly — not a fixed package.

On 4–6 day trips, rest days, zone repeats at a harder pace, and coast/beach sections can be added depending on your group's preferences.

Terrain: All three zones combined — rainforest, black-lava field, pine forest, Secret Forest hard-enduro — chosen per group.

Level: All levels welcome, but the secret-forest day expects real off-road ability. Beginners start on the Tabanan route and build through the trip. Tell us your level on WhatsApp and we map the days accordingly.

What's included: Everything — jersey, pants, socks, gloves, knee and elbow protectors, motocross boots, goggles, helmet, chest protector, and the hydration backpack you ride with (water bottles inside). You arrive empty-handed. Every piece is washed and clean — laundered after every ride. Plus accommodation, dinner, all meals, and two pro guides every day (lead + sweeper). See the multi-day page for full details and pricing.

What to expect on any of these trails

Regardless of which route you pick, the experience structure is the same. You get door-to-door pickup in an AC car, a safety briefing and gear fitting before the trail, at least two guides on every ride (a lead who sets the pace and a sweeper at the back so no one is left behind), and all riding gear provided and fitted — jersey, pants, socks, gloves, knee and elbow protectors, motocross boots, goggles, helmet, chest protector, and the hydration backpack you ride with (water bottles inside). You arrive empty-handed. Every piece is washed and clean — laundered after every ride.

Picking the right route is less about difficulty than about what kind of riding you want. First time off-road? Tabanan or Kintamani. Experienced rider looking for technical terrain? Secret Forest. Want the full picture? Multi-day.

Quick answers

  • What are the best dirt bike trails in Bali?

Bali has four main riding zones: Tabanan Jungle & Beach (rainforest single-track to a black-sand beach, best for beginners and one of the most cinematic rides in the region), Kintamani Black Lava & Forest (open lava field at the foot of Mt Batur, an active volcano, then pine-forest single-track), Secret Forest (fast hard-enduro single-trail through hidden west-coast forest — for experienced riders), and Multi-Day Expeditions that string all three zones together over 2–6 days. These are the routes we actually run.

  • Which Bali dirt bike trail is best for beginners?

Tabanan Jungle & Beach is our recommended first ride. The route threads rainforest single-track and open rice-paddy country before finishing on a black-sand beach — forgiving, scenic, and suitable for total first-timers. Kintamani Black Lava is also a genuine beginner route: the open lava field is flat and obstacle-free, a good place to find your rhythm. Both run as a half day or a full day. The Secret Forest is NOT for beginners.

  • Which Bali dirt bike trail is best for experienced riders?

The Secret Forest — fast, flowing hard-enduro single-trail through hidden forest plantations on Bali's west coast, with river crossings and deep technical jungle on the full day. The Kintamani pine-forest single-track is also genuinely technical (sandy soil, tight turns, root sections). On a multi-day expedition you can ride all three zones at pace.

  • Is the volcano trail (Kintamani) difficult to ride?

The open black-lava field is actually one of the gentler places in Bali to ride — flat, wide open, and good for building confidence. The pine-forest single-track that follows is more technical (sandy, tighter, with roots). The guide matches the pace and difficulty to your level on the day. Kintamani is rated beginner to expert.

  • Can you ride dirt bikes on the beach in Bali?

Yes — on the Tabanan Jungle & Beach full-day route. The full-day version ends on the black volcanic sand of Tabanan beach on the Indian Ocean. It's the only route in our lineup with a beach finish and the part riders talk about longest. The beach section is full-day only (not included on the half-day Tabanan tour).

  • How do I choose the right Bali dirt bike trail for me?

First time off-road or first time in Bali? Go Tabanan or Kintamani — they're both genuine beginner routes that differ by scenery (jungle+beach vs. volcano). Experienced off-road rider who wants serious technical terrain? Secret Forest. Want to ride all of it? Multi-day expedition. Still not sure? Message us on WhatsApp with your level and we'll recommend the right trail.
