The terrain

Where you'll ride.

Tabanan is west-central Bali — lush, green and full of water. The route threads rainforest single-track and open rice-paddy country, then finishes on a black-sand beach. A one-of-a-kind, cinematic ride with serious wow-factor — and unreal for photos. Dense vegetation keeps it rideable all year.

Track length
~40–50km

Total, depending on the path chosen · multiple route options built in to match each rider's level.

Rideable
Allyear

Dense jungle + humidity keep it green year-round · wet season turns it into a real mud challenge — part of the fun.

Beach finale
Blacksand

Ride the volcanic black sand on Tabanan beach, right on the Indian Ocean — a beach finish like nowhere else.

The beach is the part nobody forgets — a perfectly flat ribbon of black volcanic sand, the ocean spray flicking off your front wheel. Wide open, grippy, and yours to ride how you like: roll the throttle on, pop the front wheel up, or just sit back and watch the spray fly. The best photo ground of the whole trip. Before the coast you ride the Jatiluwih rice terraces — UNESCO World Heritage, the postcard of Bali, except you're on a bike with no crowd and no fence — then the track tips down into real tropical jungle: green light, wet air, the canopy closing over you.

“Open the throttle on a black-sand beach with the ocean at your wheel. Every motorcyclist should do it once.”
Your level

Beginner to expert.

Tabanan is our best first ride — beginners start here and finish grinning. But the jungle has another gear if you want it: roots, climbs, ruts, puddles deep enough to soak you. If your level allows and you're hungry for it, the guide can string the harder lines together until you've earned the beach. Want it mellow? That's the default. The day is built around you — soft KLX to a 300 EXC, the choice is yours.

Plan your day

Half day or full day.
Add the beach.

The half day is the jungle + rice-paddy loop. The full day adds lunch, the run down to the coast, and the black-sand beach finish. Your guide sets the pace + breaks to match the group on the day. And the plan isn’t fixed — want more beach, less jungle, extra photo stops? Just ask. We’ll always shape the day around you when we can.

Before you book

The honest FAQ.

The questions everyone asks us on WhatsApp. Answered here once.

Is the black-sand beach always part of the ride?+

The black-sand beach finish is the highlight of the full day; on the half day we usually keep it to the jungle + rice-paddy loop. But nothing's set in stone — tell us what you're after and we'll flex the route however we can. Rather spend your whole half-day on the beach and skip the jungle? Just ask — done.

How do you pay? What payment methods do you take?+

You pay on-site, before the ride starts — there's no online checkout and nothing to pay just to ask. We take:

  • Cash.
  • Card on a terminal at basecamp — card payments add a 3% fee.
  • Bank transfer may also be possible — ask the team on WhatsApp and we'll confirm.

We sort the exact amount and timing with you directly when we confirm your booking.

Do I need a motorcycle licence?+

No licence is needed for a guided tour — you ride on private trails and off-road tracks with a guide, not on public roads. If your plans include any public-road riding, message us with your situation and we'll advise on what's required.

Can I bring my own gear?+

You can, but you don't need to — a full set of riding gear is provided and laundered after every ride, so you can arrive empty-handed. Plenty of riders prefer to bring a helmet or boots they trust; that's completely fine.

I wear glasses or contact lenses — is that fine?+

Both are fine. Contact lenses are ideal — there's less dust getting in under the goggles. If you wear glasses, our goggles fit over most frames; let us know your frame size and we'll have the right pair ready for you.

Is it safe? What about insurance?+

Safety is the priority: full protective gear is provided and fitted, there's a safety briefing before you ride, and there are always at least two guides (a lead and a sweeper) so no one rides alone. Bike insurance is included (mechanical + damage cover). We strongly recommend you also carry your own travel/medical insurance that covers off-road motorcycling — your home travel insurance often covers it, but check before flying.

How big are the groups?+

Rides run in small, level-matched groups — usually a lead guide up front and a sweeper at the back. Solo riders are welcome: if others are booked we pair you into a matched group; if no one else is out that day, you get a private guide. For exact sizes and private-group options, ask on WhatsApp.

What if it rains?+

We ride in the rain — mud's half the fun and your guide adapts the pace and the line to the conditions. The only thing that stops a ride is a proper storm, and if that hits we move the schedule or reschedule. Bali rain is usually short and patchy, and the wet season turns the trails into a genuine mud challenge that a lot of riders come back for.

I've never ridden off-road. Can I still book?+

Yes — many of our riders are beginners and most do their first-ever off-road day with us. You start on a light, forgiving KLX 150 or 230, your guide keeps the pace gentle while you find your balance, and no prior off-road experience is needed. Both the Tabanan Jungle & Beach and the Kintamani Black Lava tours are ones you can genuinely start from scratch on — they just differ by scenery. The harder, more technical lines (like Secret Forest) expect real off-road ability. Tell us your experience on WhatsApp and we'll place you on the right route and bike.

What do I bring vs what's provided?+

You bring (for the day — nothing for the ride itself):

  • Your phone — your guides can grab photos and video of you on it.
  • A little cash for incidentals.
  • comfortable underwear to ride in under the gear, plus a spare set to change into after — so you head home fresh and comfortable.
  • Sunscreen — the Bali sun is no joke; put it on any exposed skin.
  • Any personal medication you might need on the trail.

We provide:

  • jersey, pants, socks, gloves, knee and elbow protectors, motocross boots, goggles, helmet, chest protector, hydration backpack (water bottles inside) — all fitted to you.
  • The bike and unlimited petrol.
  • Water, and lunch on day trips.
  • A free BaliEnduro jersey to keep.

You arrive empty-handed.

What's the cancellation policy?+

Flexible. Booking is over WhatsApp — it's free to ask and there's no online checkout. We confirm your bike and slot, then sort timing and payment with you directly before the ride. If your plans change, just message us as early as you can.

I'm coming alone — can I ride solo?+

Yes. Solo riders get a private guide. The rate stays the same — no single-rider surcharge.

Can I just ride, no photos / video?+

Of course. Tell us at gear-up. The photo/video on your phone is included whether you use it or not. GoPro rental (Rp 300.000/trip) + a 64GB SD card (Rp 250.000) are available if you want your own footage.
